Johnny Sargeant spent many years with the UK speedway team in Exeter, during which time he appeared in 104 matches for the Falcon's, and notched up a total of 478 points.

He eventually made the decision to retire from the sport, after failing to get back into the line up during an attempt to recover from injury problems,

He had once made an appearance in an England "C" side against a touring America team and scored eleven points.

In 1950, he failed to qualify for the World Championship in the first round at Exeter, and fellow Canadian rider Stan Bradbury also failed in the same Championship at Swindon in the first round.

STATS: UK tracks: Exeter 1950, 51, 52, 53, 54; also spells in 1953 at St Austell and Plymouth. Years in Canada: 1959.

He later emigrated to Canada.
